Oak Barrel Baroque
Michael Beutler returns to Gavi after four years to create a new work, Oak Barrel Baroque, for Fondazione La Raia – arte cultura territorio. Made with staves from barriques at the end of their life cycle, a small chapel takes form, surrounded by young oak trees, illustrating the life cycle of a plant and a material that are essential for the production of wine. Installed in the midst of vineyards, this shelter has windows and a large opening at the front from which to enjoy the view of the Gavi hills. The installation is a small refuge, an impromptu theater, a place to relax and linger, created for the people and visitors who spend time on the agricultural estate, exploring the works of art that have been inserted in its landscape since 2013.
