The landscape

La Raia is a vocation, the constant search for a sincere and dynamic balance between land and man, constantly evolving and changing as nature is.

The choice of biodynamic farming to the benefit of future generations

Giorgio Rossi Cairo purchased the first vineyards of La Raia in 2003, enthralled by the Gavi hills, an island still untouched by the stringent urbanization that has largely affected our territory. The strong desire to save the typical traits of this landscape and its natural resources stimulated the Rossi Cairo family to choose a preservative restoration for the buildings and to follow the biodynamic farming principles in the vineyards and the wine cellar. The project developed over the years with the establishment of a Steiner school, a service of production and delivery of biodynamic food, an art Foundation and two accommodation structures inside the estate. The commitment to a sustainable and high-quality farming was reinforced in 2015 with the acquisition of Tenuta Cucco in the Langhe region. The Tenuta has been a certified organic farm since 2018 and produces Nebbiolo and Barolo Nebbiolo.

A unique ecosystem of nature

The 50 hectares of Cortese and Barbera vineyards are just one piece of the extraordinary mosaic of plant environments that is La Raia. Just walk along one of the estate's trails and you will enjoy the variety of this highly biodiverse landscape.

The world of Pisé

From an ancient construction technique, ecological and sustainable, a dialogue between past and present and a distinctive sign in the Gavi landscape.

Biodiversity Itinerary

A trail of approximately three kilometers crosses the entire estate from North to South, from Borgo Merlassino to Locanda, passing through the cellar. You can follow it with a map or with one of our guides to gradually discover the landscape and the tiny inhabitants of this corner of Gavi, getting lost among the vineyards, hedges, and riparian woods that characterize La Raia's territory.
