Gavi D.O.C.G. Riserva Vigna Madonnina

Biodynamic Piedmontese White Wine

It embodies the terroir’s tradition. Grapes are handpicked when slightly ripe and with a golden yellow colouring. A complex aroma of ripe fruit, honey and candied fruit characterises this wine.

The soil

La Madonnina vineyard is located in the heart of the estate with a south-east exposure. The calcareous, clayey and marly soil is particularly suitable for the Cortese vines. For all of our vineyards, we avoid every type of non natural fertilisers and chemical products. The soil is enriched with manure and sovescio– made up of broad beans, peas and clover which, once trimmed, transforms it into fertiliser and humus.

Grapes

The Cortese grapes for the production of Gavi Riserva vineyard Madonnina benefits from great thermic ventilation and an ideal microclimate, thanks to its natural exposure. The yield does not go over 6,5 tonnes per hectare. During maturation phase grapes are selected in the vineyard, allowing to obtain good alcohol content.

Wine making

Grapes are harvested and handpicked towards the end of September. After selection, grapes are destemmed and delicately pressed. The must obtained is then decanted and ferments at low controlled temperature without the addition of oenological additives. Approximately 25 days later, when the fermentation is completed, the wine is poured into another stainless steel tank, where it remains for 6 months, as required by the Gavi Docg production regulations. The Gavi Docg Riserva is then bottled and continues refinement for another six months inside the bottle, before being released to the market. This refinement procedure results in a long-lasting and pleasant wine to drink.
